Push Back Racks are fixed pallet storage systems that can accommodate multiple pallets on sliding carts simultaneously, tripling the storage density compared to conventional racks. This article provides detailed information about this type of rack, crucial for determining whether it is the ideal choice for your warehouse.
Learn about what is Push Back Racking?
Push Back Racks are pallet rack systems with a storage depth of 4 to 6 pallets. The design features a 3-degree inclined slope that gradually lowers at the entry end, facilitating the movement of pallets at speeds of 12-15 meters per minute inside the system. Grouping solidly constructed rack rows significantly improves storage density. The average capacity per Push Back pallet is up to 500kg.
Using the push back system enhances flexibility and operational efficiency of material handling vehicles. Forklifts do not need to move deep into the rack, they only need access to one end of a single rack row.
Push Back Racking can load up to 1500kg/pallet
A complete set of Push Back Racks consists of the following 8 components:
*Note: On a pallet guide rail, Push Back racking can have 2, 3, 4, or 5 sliding carts (depending on the number of pallets or storage requirements of the warehouse). For efficient use and cost savings, please contact us directly at 0938 520 379 for more detailed advice.

Push Back racks are equipped with a series of stacked sliding carts on the same inclined rail. This rack operates on the principle:
Inbound process
The first pallet is loaded onto the sliding cart, followed by the second pallet. The second pallet, under the force of the forklift, slides in thanks to the sliding cart system. Similarly, the third pallet will push the first two pallets further back. This process continues until the rail is filled with goods.
Outbound process
As soon as the front pallet is unloaded from the system, the pallets behind it move forward to fill the empty position. Each sliding cart acts as a brake system, instantly decelerating to prevent pallets from falling off the rack.

*Note: Push Back Racks and Pallet Flow Racks are two different types of racks, however, their operation is somewhat similar. Forklifts do not need to move deep into each row of racks; instead, they only approach the front of each row. This can cause confusion. To understand better, you need to learn more about how the Pallet Flow Rack operates.
